Let's Take A Hike

I'm going to have a series of short little posts to update you guys on activities I do on the weekends. I don't always bring my GoPro around so I try to capture as many moments on my phone as possible. Also, editing videos can sometimes be time consuming which is why there is such a delay in them going up.

In this post, I have a few pictures from when I went hiking with some friends. This was my first time ever going hiking. I wasn't even sure what to expect. My friend Saleha said to wear a bathing suit and workout clothes. Meanwhile, I was struggling trying to find "hiking tips" on Pinterest. lol

That day it started off as a rainy Saturday, but it was HOT! I decided to not even wear a bathing suit but I still had my workout clothes on and sneakers. I met my friends in Bayonne, NJ and from there we drove to Sloatsburg, NY. They have a huge hiking trail surrounding a park. The drive was about 1-2 hrs. When we got there it was sunny and I definitely regretted not wearing a bathing suit. Saleha gave us knapsacks to use to carry our phones and water bottles.

We started our hike and honestly it wasn't as exhausting as I thought it was going to be. I was definitely hot but nothing unbearable. On the trail we bumped into a lot of other people hiking. By the end of the trail there was a huge lake. I CAN'T SWIM so let's just say I had a peaceful time sitting on a rock, while my friends swam to the other side. They climbed a bunch of rocks and jumped off a cliff. It looked like fun, but I wasn't trying to drown. We had a peaceful afternoon just admiring the scenery. We left around 5pm to go eat sushi. So, the trail wasn't really that long to finish.

Hiking is an activity I would definitely try again. I had fun and hopefully I am more prepared for my next one. I should have brought more water and some snacks because I was dying towards the end. Also, don't think that you have to be a "gym rat" to do this kind of stuff. It's literally like walking up a hill with a trail of rocks. I would recommend bug spray just in case and a small bag. You don't realize how annoying it is to walk with your phone in your hand until a whole hour passes you by. Let me know what your thoughts on hiking are or if you have had any experiences.
