Redecorating my room

I want to give you guys some motivation since this quarantine doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon. Being home can put you in a lazy mood so what I’ve been trying to do is set some small goals for myself to accomplish each day. I try my best not to set too many because you don’t want to overwork yourself, but it helps give some structure to my day when I’m taking a break from working from home.

The first thing I wanted to take care of was redecorating and cleaning out my room. It was so cluttered and I had some shelves and dimmable lights I wanted to install to just give my room some more personality. I want my room to be as comfortable as possible because that’s where I’m going to be spending most of my time during this quarantine. This is just a glimpse of what I’ve been working on.

The “Dose of Cin” letters on the wall are my favorite part of my room. These letters are standard cardboard letters I purchased from Hobby Lobby a couple of months ago. I used a satin pink spray paint so they can go with my pink themed room. To stick the letters on the wall itself I had to use command strips. I used those same strips to also hang up the board with my Polaroid pictures. I need some more clothes pins to hang more pics up.

The floating shelves were a struggle to install because I don’t have a drill to make a hole in the wall to put the anchor in place. I had to improvise and hammer in a nail first, then once the hole was deep enough I pushed in the anchor and drilled the nail. It sounds super easy, which after a while it was but the shelf definitely fell a couple of times before I felt comfortable enough to put things on it.

I bought these floating shelves off Amazon, along with these dimmable led lights. My room is naturally light during the day, but at night the room light has a yellowish tone which makes doing my makeup difficult. So, I have a ring light and these additional led lights to help bring the perfect lighting to my face. The dimmable lights were really easy to install. They just stick to any surface when you peel back the sticker. I’m really happy with the outcome!

The next project in my room was to color coordinate my wardrobe. I had this set up a couple of months ago, but as I kept buying clothes I didn’t keep up with organizing my closet. There are a couple of different ways to color coordinate your closet.

So, I took all my clothes out and went through each item one by one. I chose to separate each section by color and organize the clothings by bottoms, dresses, short sleeves, quarter sleeves, long sleeves, sweaters, jackets, coats. Any shorts, jeans, tank tops, workout clothes, and sweaters I kept folded at the top shelf of my closet. I set aside a pile of clothes I don’t wear anymore so I could free up some space.

My shoes at the bottom are going to take a little more effort to sort out because I don’t have much space to put them. So, I’m debating if I should buy an additional shoe rack or organizer to keep them from getting cluttered and creased. There’s more to come on my room decorations.

How have you been spending your quarantine? Any new exciting projects?
